Our History Through the Years

Flamingo Lakes — A Legacy Since 1971

For more than five decades, Flamingo Lakes has grown and evolved while preserving the natural beauty, independence, and neighborhood spirit that define our community. These milestones reflect the foundation upon which Flamingo Lakes was built and our continuing commitment to its future.

1971 | The Foundation of Flamingo Lakes

On May 15, 1971, the original Articles of Incorporation for the Flamingo Lakes Lot Owners Association were signed and notarized. These documents established the organizational foundation for a nonprofit association dedicated to protecting community interests and maintaining shared property.

1980s | Establishing Our Neighborhood's Identity

As Flamingo Lakes developed, property restrictions and community standards helped shape its residential character. Historical references suggest that some original restrictions may date to approximately 1982, although the exact adoption date remains to be verified.

1994 | Establishing Association Governance

Historical association bylaws associated with August 13, 1994, outlined procedures for membership, board responsibilities, meetings, and community administration.

1998 | Preserving Community Standards

Restrictive covenants recorded with Montgomery County on June 15, 1998, became part of the community's documented framework for property ownership and neighborhood standards.

2000s | Preserving Our Community Assets

As Montgomery County continued to grow, Flamingo Lakes maintained its established neighborhood character. The community's water infrastructure, private lake, swimming pool, and shared recreational facilities remained important elements of neighborhood life.

2021 | Protecting Essential Infrastructure

Public Utility Commission records document the association's efforts to designate its water well as critical infrastructure during emergencies, reflecting the continuing importance of reliable water service.

2026 | Celebrating 55 Years of Heritage

Flamingo Lakes marks 55 years since the signing of its original incorporation documents.

Today, the association continues to serve a neighborhood with approximately 81 homes connected to its community water system while preserving shared facilities, improving operations, and planning for future generations.

The Future | Continuing Our Legacy

Our history does not end here.

Every resident, volunteer, and future generation has an opportunity to contribute to the ongoing story of Flamingo Lakes.

Our commitment remains the same: to preserve the peaceful character of our neighborhood, responsibly maintain our shared resources, and leave our community stronger for those who follow.

Honoring Our Past. Preserving Our Present. Building Our Future.
